Born in a place called Pasumpon in Ramanathapuram district, South India,  there was a long and close relationship between him and the Madurai Adheenam. Thevar cherished great devotion towards Tiru Jnanasambandar and all the Pontiffs thereafter of the Madurai Aadheenam.

From the year 1940 to the final years of his life i.e. till 1963, this deep relationship continued and Devar made frequent visits to the Madurai Aadheenam offering his devotion and support to the Pontiffs of the Madurai Aadheenam. The 291st Guru Maha Sannidhanam honoured Devar by conferring upon him the title “Sanmarga Sanda Marutham”.
